I learned that courage was not the absence of fear,

but the triumph over it. The brave man is not

he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

~ Nelson Mandela

Recently I was asked at the last minute to be part of spiritual training. My heart wanted to go, but mind was coming up with all kinds of stories.

I heard my mind saying: it’s not enough time to get ready, plane tickets will be expensive, I can do it next year, my wife can’t make it and I want to go with her, it will be expensive to go, airplane tickets will be expensive because I’m buying late, I’ll miss the Super Bowl, I’m not ready for this I will be next year, I won’t be able to do one of my favorite things & spend time with my family on Super Bowl. UGH!!! Story after story!!

Transform Fear Into Action Concept

Then I remembered to listen to my heart and my intuition. THEY were saying, I want you to go; screw the stories! You need this for your spiritual growth.

So I got my credit card out and bought the training and airline tickets, which of course ended up being cheaper than normal.

Did I have fear committing to this? YES!! Did I do it anyway? ABSOLULTELY!! Was it incredible waking up the next day excited and knowing I did what was in alignment for my soul? Let’s put it this way—PRICELESS!!

There’s something I notice with myself, coaching and any kind of training that helps people—when something is said that is a truth for our growth and being the person we came here to be, we go right to our story.

All the what if, but, can’t, and woulda-shoulda-coulda come out. There could be some anger or fear attached to this story, and we  can create the end of evolution if they are held on to instead of broken through.

This is the mind’s way of being reactive and trying to protect itself. When we start telling stories and let the emotions control us, it’s the greatest opportunity to find the true authenticity in us . . . to shed all stories and conditioning of who we are not.

The next time you’re in a situation and someone says something that puts you in fear and anger and you start telling stories, become aware of what’s going on. Then ask yourself what am I protecting?

Go inside and find out what your protecting and why. The next step is to allow yourself time and contemplate what’s going on. Don’t allow yourself to just blurt out your stories and not discover the truth inside you.

You will have fear doing this, but just realize it’s just emotion and nothing is going to happen to you.

Anytime we start unlearning all the BS of who we are to find our true selves, there will be fear. But remember, fear is just a human emotion we all have.

The person you really desire to be is on the other side of your fear and comfort zone.

Most of our disempowering beliefs and programming are unconscious; they are difficult for us to see.

Consider getting a great friend or coach to help bring these to the surface for you. You need someone who is compassionate whom you can trust. Allow your heart to find this person.

I’m going to end this with a story….. Once upon a time there was a person born who knew how amazing and beautiful they were and what they wanted to give to the world.

But as they got older, people started telling them stories that they weren’t that great and definitely weren’t beautiful. Those people had a magic box called a TV that said who was beautiful and what beauty looked liked.

They were told stories like: Don’t you dare believe you’re that special—to believe you have a dream in your heart to give to the world—you’re just here to survive. Be scared and get paid gold coins, and the more you have—the happier you are.

And one day this person found their heart and soul and realized they had just been told stories by people who had been told stories.

And they remembered they were amazing and beautiful, and that they had a special gift to give the world. That was an amazing day, because they woke from a sleep to being alive and finding love.

My friend, I hope you saw yourself in this true story.
